Je travaille essentiellement sur la phonologie de l’anglais, et plus spécifiquement sur trois thématiques :

• L’accentuation : pour ce phénomène central de la phonologie de l’anglais, je m’intéresse aux paramètres déterminant le placement de l’accent, sa nature et sa représentation formelle.
• La relation entre la morphologie et la phonologie : cette relation est déterminante, notamment lorsque l’on s’intéresse à l’accentuation. Je m’intéresse au rôle que peuvent jouer certains constituants morphologiques entrant dans la composition de constructions sémantiquement opaques ainsi qu’à la question de la reconnaissance du caractère complexe de telles constructions par les locuteurs.
• La relation entre l’écrit et l’oral : peu de théories phonologiques intègrent réellement l’information orthographique. Je défends l’idée qu’un certain nombre de phénomènes ne peuvent être correctement décrits sans recours à l’écrit.

I mainly work on English phonology, and more specifically on three topics :

• Stress : regarding this central phenomenon of English phonology, I am interested in parameters determining stress placement, the nature of stress and its representation.
• The relationship between the morphology and the phonology : this is a determining relationship, especially when we are interested in stress. I am interested in the role played by certain morphological constituents found in semantically opaque constructions and in the issue of the recognition of the complexity of such constructions by contemporary language users.
• The relationship between orthography and phonology : there are few phonological theories which really integrate orthographic information. I claim that a number of phenomena cannot be properly described without a reference to orthography.
